Human Communication (60/30/10)
I hope this post finds you well.
I am concerned with computer neural linking to the mind. There are people with an obsessive drive to connect the mind to the computer. Why? To get some answers I asked ChatGPT:
Question: What are the reasons for neural inking to the computer?
ChatGPT: Neural inking, or establishing a direct connection between the human brain and a computer, has several potential motivations and benefits. Here are some key reasons:
1. Medical and Therapeutic Applications:
• Treating Neurological Disorders: Neural ink technology can help in treating conditions like Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and spinal cord injuries by stimulating specific areas of the brain or nervous system.
• Restoring Sensory and Motor Functions: For individuals with paralysis or loss of sensory functions, neural interfaces can potentially restore movement or sensory perceptions through direct brain-computer communication.
• Mental Health Treatment: Neural interfaces might provide new ways to treat severe depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions by directly interacting with brain regions involved in mood regulation.
2. Enhanced Cognitive Abilities:
• Memory and Learning: Neural ink could enhance memory retention and learning capabilities by interfacing with brain regions responsible for these functions.
• Information Processing Speed: Direct brain-computer interfaces could significantly increase the speed of data processing and retrieval compared to traditional methods of using external devices like keyboards or touchscreens.
3. Communication Improvements:
• Assistive Communication Devices: For individuals with speech or motor impairments, neural interfaces can enable communication through thought-controlled devices, bypassing the need for physical movement or speech.
• Brain-to-Brain Communication: Theoretically, neural inks could facilitate direct brain-to-brain communication, allowing thoughts to be transmitted between individuals without spoken or written language.
4. Human-Computer Integration:
• Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR): Neural interfaces could provide more immersive and intuitive control of AR and VR environments, enhancing user experience.
• Brain-Controlled Interfaces: Direct control of computers and other devices via neural signals can lead to more efficient and seamless interaction with technology.
5. Scientific Research and Understanding:
• Neuroscience Research: Neural inks provide a tool for neuroscientists to study brain functions in real-time with high precision, leading to a deeper understanding of how the brain works.
• Human Cognition: Understanding the brain’s mechanisms more thoroughly can lead to insights into human cognition, behavior, and mental processes.
6. Enhancing Human Capabilities:
• Cognitive Augmentation: Neural inks might enhance human capabilities, such as improving concentration, multitasking, and potentially expanding cognitive abilities beyond natural limits.
• Integration with AI: Combining human intelligence with artificial intelligence through neural interfaces could lead to powerful synergies, enhancing problem-solving and creative capacities.
7. Future Adaptations:
• Adaptation to New Environments: As humanity explores space or other extreme environments, neural interfaces could help humans adapt more quickly and efficiently.
• Transhumanism: Some proponents see neural inks as a step towards transhumanism, where technology significantly enhances human physical and cognitive abilities.
Overall, the primary motivations for neural inking to computers encompass a wide range of medical, cognitive, and technological advancements, aimed at improving health, enhancing human capabilities, and fostering a deeper understanding of the brain.
Sure, this all sounds good here, but what about the potential mis-uses. Brain-Controlled Interfaces imply it’s a brain controls the computer type of connection. However, in the case for Mental Health Treatment. (Section 1, Medical and Therapeutic Applications). It’s implying a computer controls the brain type. A direction I think we humans and society in general should not approve of. The mis-uses would be too great.
In the wrong hands, controlling a person’s emotion and feelings can do great harm to individuals and society. Controlling emotions and feelings can be used for swaying decisions for business, religion, political voting, etc. This tech can easily be mis-used. They already have the ability to read what the mind is saying. I read this in an article, just can’t find it yet.
Basically, human communication is separated into 3 parts, visual, auditory and words. This is a little unbelievable, but, it’s 60% visual, 30% auditory and 10%-word content. If you think about it long enough, you will agree on this. Here is an example: How would you know if someone is depressed? It turns out the muscles in your face adjust to a position so as to communicate your emotions, in this case visually. If your happy you smile, sad you frown, etc. Another words, your facial and body expressions are a reflection of the state of your mind. You can see into their minds state of being. Even our dogs can read us. The tone of your voice adds an extra dimension when we communicate. Softly to emphasize and loudly to get you to listen. Finally, 10% is the contents of the words, surprisingly. This implies a brain to muscle direction. Or the brain controls the muscles. However, it also works in reverse.
Let me explain with my story. When I was in the hospital a while back a nurse approached me, noticing I was depressed, she told me a technique to help alleviate my depression. She said if you force yourself to smile, it will reduce your depression. I looked at her in disbelief, she reinforced, by nodding in approval and encouraged me to try it. So, I did. I am glad I listened because it worked. You can physically use your hand to force your muscles into a happy position and it will influence your mind.
Another words, the western science perspective where we tend to separate and study the parts of the body, assumes the mind is the computer and controls the body. However, this is just half of it. It also works in reverse.
Brain <—> Nerves <—> Muscles
The muscles in your face and body can induce or change your state of mind. Put a smile on your face and your mind responds by flowing to a happy state. I know this because when I was in the hospital, I was in a state of depression. A nurse came up to me and explained this. I have been told this by several nurses. To me, this is fascinating, the position of the muscles can affect the mind.
To simplify, the mind is connected to muscles via nerve conduits. Nerve conduits are kind of like wires. The mind express’s itself buy orienting the muscles in the face and body, via the nerve conduits. The muscles and facial expressions are a reflection of the mind. Also, the mind is an expression of the muscles. It goes both ways. They affect each other.
Another note here is that what happens on the conduit also happens in the mind and muscles. This is important. Sending the correct signals to the nerve conduits, will affect the muscles and mind. It’s the mis-use of this technology that is most concerning. In the hands of cultures and cults that desire to control is where it can be really dangerous. Like organized crime, middlemen and cults.
Note: More thoughts here 2024/05/25
- They could beam confidence into speakers, to give an audience impression the speaker knows what there talking about. To assure the audience is convinced. Could be used for nefarious reasons.
- Used to control people in religious gatherings. Sometimes when I look at the Evangelical Christians gatherings photos I wonder.
- Also, sporting events, parties and during financial transactions.
- It’s all about control. Could be used during ads, to help ads effectiveness.
- Our plutocracy may drive implant technology, for control purposes.
- I say, AI and beaming with implants should only be used for scientific research, not behavior modification or computer to brain connections.
Patents:
Here are some patent examples. These are just some of the patents displaying technology that can affect the mind and nervous system in some way. Use of AI or an algorithm to do behavioral modification on people/patients. However, it can also be used to cancel/destroy people. Deter them from exercising their freedom of speech and press. Send emotions to brain. Monitor thoughts, display text of actual thoughts. Cause feedback to elevate emotions, like anxiety, fear, laughter, confidence, etc. Can copy emotional state and send it back when they want. Examples could be, anger, anxiety, pride, no-fear, sexual arousal, suicide, etc.
This patent was filed in 1997. The technology may have been around a while before being filed. Read the abstract first, below.
Those were some of many patents that describe the potential benefits and harm, showing that this tech is going the wrong way.
Now we are putting neural inks into our brains so we can control the computer mouse. So, we can be more efficient at work.
Antennas can be both used as a receiver and a transmitter. Antennas can be designed to receive only and to transmit only. Antennas be designed to receive and transmit. Human implants with antennas can receive and transmit brain activity. Antennas can be placed in the brain and/or the nerve conduits which run throughout the body.
I often wonder, why are our military veterans are committing suicides at such high rates. Does this happen in other countries? These pages are taken from the 2023 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Patent US 6,017,302 and US 6,506,148 B2 shows devices can manipulate the nervous system from afar. Emotions like suicide which can bring on great harm is one such.
This patent (US 10,786,570 B2) scares me the most.
